They pay tribute to the tremendous legacy of Motown Super Group, The Four Tops. In this highly interactive and visually appealing Tribute production, SHADOWS OF THE 60'S perform the hits that span several decades of the group's history. "Bernadette," "Standing In The Shadows Of Love," "Reach Out (I'll Be There), one powerhouse performance after another. Great care is taken to reproduce the music, note for note and in the original keys and arrangements are under the musical direction of Melvin Miller, Jr. Protégé of the legendary architects of the Four Tops sound, Holland, Dozier, Holland, along with stunning choreography and costumes.
Under the creative direction of Dave Revels, a former member of the Hall Of Fame inductees, The Drifters, and who appeared alongside the Four Tops and The Temptations in the NBC 1985 television special "Motown Returns To The Apollo," each singer and musician were chosen because they embody the spirit, style, and excitement of the original group in concert. Close your eyes and you will hear the magic of Motown, open them and you will see and feel the "front row" experience of the raw and soulful essence that was Motown, circa 1964 -68. Considered by many the best male vocal group and lead singer ever produced by Motown, The Four Tops hold the distinction of being the longest-lived group in rock/soul history (41 years) without personnel change (1956-1997). The Four Tops reigned supreme from 1964-1967 during the height of the British musical invasion under the songwriting team of Holland Dozier Holland. Come join us on tour as we take this very special walk with you down memory lane.
Dave Revels, lead vocalist, has toured worldwide and is currently the lead singer and record arranger/producer for internationally acclaimed a cappella group, The Persuasions. He is an author and songwriter.
Dave has over 30 years of experience in developing theme shows and 50's and 60's style productions. He has produced or written songs for shows in Las Vegas, Nevada (Sahara Hotel & Casino - "Love Potion #10" and the finale song for a rock and roll show that played in Las Vegas for over 7 years). Dave has also created and produced Christmas shows in Atlantic City (Resorts Hotel & Casino, The Sands, Tropicana).
In his present production, Dave has gathered talented musicians and singers who have worked with various legends of rock and roll, soul and Motown to create his "Shadows of the 60s: A Tribute to the Four Tops.". A long time admirer of the Four Tops' Levi Stubbs voice Dave had the pleasure of meeting him and the other Tops on several ocassions during his stint with the Drifters as an opening act for the Four Tops as well as appearing on the 1985 Motown Returns To The Apollo NBC television special in the "Battle Of The Bands" which featured The Tops, Temptations, Manhattans, The cadillacs and The Drifters, the group Dave was a member of at that time. The footage can be seen on youtube as introduced by Bill Cosby.
In addition to his commercial endeavors, Dave presently is the president and director of the Stand Up America "One World" Children Chorus that tours across America raising funds for charitable causes. The Chorus, based on the patriotic song "Stand Up America," penned by Dave has been endorsed by educators nationwide who see it as a song that helps to unify their diverse racial and ethnic student body with it's message of understanding, racial harmony and the need for everyone to work together to build a more unified nation.
